100 BEST DAY HIKES IN THE SOUTHWEST

Buckskin Gulch, AZ Lower Calf Creek Falls, UT Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument, NM

Welcome to the Bigroads.com guide to the 100 best day hikes in the American Southwest! As you absorb the list below, take note that none of my lists are perfect and they never will be. Opinions on what constitutes a great day hike will vary, and I'm sure there are some great hikes I'm not aware of. However, much care and research has been made in crafting the lists you'll found on my site. I've also personally visited over half of the hikes that I describe below. I will continue to improve these lists as I complete more hikes and as I hear feedback from you.

If you love the southwest as much as I do, I encourage you to hike as many of these as possible. They are all truly 5-star hikes. If you discover any errors or major omissions on this list, please email me.

 TOP 100 DAY HIKES LIST

Here are my choices for the top 100 day hikes in the American Southwest. You'll find hikes across Arizona, southeastern California, western Colorado, southern Nevada, New Mexico, southern Utah, and western Texas on this list. Take note that I have purposely excluded most off-trail hikes as I do not believe it is responsible to post information about hidden gems online. In my opinion it's more fun and rewarding to have to conduct some research to find the off-trail goodies and natural wonders. I actually wish that more travel and social media influencers felt this way.

= an advance permit and/or timed entry reservation is required
= I have personally done this hike (and you are welcome to email me for advice/tips)
